Haiku Sequence by Alyssa LAwson

The summer's my muse
The sun smiles as my pen plays
Inspiration: fun.

The trees hang luminous
Threatening oncoming winter
Their leaves briskly falling.

Simple yet so complex
Contradicting? Yes
Odd? Not by a long shot.

The morning breeze swept the hill
Sunflowers dancing along
To the motion: nature's song.

The humid stickiness loomed
Low near the black pavement
The heat a persistent foe.

The mountain fresh with white
Skiers dotted the mountain
Like ants at a picnic.

The tree's dusted like sugar doughnuts
Children covered themselves with warmth
And rushed into the winter wonder.
